South African Work Ethic

South Africans come from a background which encourages a strong and moral work ethic. The sanction years, together with the many years of struggle to achieve freedom, have left a their mark of resilience on South African people. South Africans have a strong inner drive, a broad experienced mindset and are not afraid of hard work and change. The multi cultural population also ensures that South Africans are used to working in harmony with many varied cultures.

South Africa adopted a Mentorship Programme that is strongly enforced in order to create a multicultural middle management within organizations. This experience of mentoring will prove vital for the arabisation drive that is underway within the Middle East.

In South Africa the construction industry is diverse and far ranging in scope, which can be observed when visiting the major cities of Johannesburg, Cape Town and Durban. The business environment in South Africa is fast paced and highly competitive. Given the volatility of the local currency, the Rand, our financial managers are highly competent decision makers. South African Chartered Accountants are highly sought after globally, whilst the Banking and Finance Industry is sophisticated, well regulated and boasts the biggest stock exchange in Africa. South African advertising sector is seen as one of the most creative globally, winning numerous international awards year on year. Our national electrification company, Eskom, was voted the No.1 electrification company in the world in 2001. South African refineries are World Class whilst our Petro Chemical sector is recognised as globally competitive. Likewise, the South African retail sector is recognised for producing top caliber retail professionals and already has strong links with Dubai through the presence of Woolworths, one of South Africa's leading retailers.

South Africa's F.M.C.G sector also has strong links with the Middle East, with some F.M.C.G companies running their Middle East offices from Johannesburg.
