Dubai: A job fair for Emiratis opens its doors today at the Dubai International Convention and Exhibition Centre.

Ahead of the ninth edition of Careers Fair, the private office of Shaikh Majid Bin Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Chairman of Dubai Culture and The Knowledge and Human Development Authority (KHDA), signed an agreement of understanding to carry out training workshops for Emiratis seeking job opportunities in both the public and the private sectors.

The agreement involves conducting different activities that aim at preparing and qualifying Emiratis, improving their skills and guiding them on choosing a suitable career opportunity that offers them potential growth and development.

The agreement was signed by Marwan Bin Beyat, General Manager of The Private Office of Shaikh Majid, and Eisa Al Mulla, Executive Director of National Workforce Development on behalf of KHDA.

Some of the activities planned for the Shaikh Majid Pavilion include mock interviews that will help fresh graduates understand the expectations of employers when conducting job interviews, as well as training workshops on preparing for interviews, professional CVs and outlining success factors in seeking career growth.

A "15FQ" self-assessment test will also be on offer to help job seekers understand their capabilities, strengths, weaknesses and identify areas in which they can improve.

Careers Fair 2009 offers a variety of recruiting opportunities to job seekers, who have a valuable opportunity to meet with potential employers. Careers Fair is devoted to providing the job market with an unrivalled platform from which to recruit, educate, and take part in open dialogues concerning work-related issues in the UAE.

Attendants will have access to the latest information on issues ranging from advanced study and training opportunities to business opportunities. The fair will allow visitors to have their questions answered directly by the experts. They can also compare what's on offer and learn how to plan for their futures.

Job seekers will also be able to get to know the latest employment trends and learn what kinds of skilled professionals the country will need in the next decade.

Exhibitors, including employers, universities, colleges and other agencies, will provide the visitors with all the information they seek.

Gulf News will be participating in the fair with the aim of attracting young job seekers to the interactive field of media and communication.

The exhibition is organised by the Dubai World Trade Centre in collaboration with Tanmia, Emirates Nationals Development Programme (ENDP), Higher Colleges of Technology, Zayed University and UAE University
